Awarding Grants to Organizations Showing an Interest in Community Improvement
The Alston-Beech Foundation awards grants to qualified nonprofit organizations with specific, identifiable needs. The eligibility requirements are:
- Organizations must be incorporated and classified as tax-exempt under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and as public charities under section 509 (a) of that code. For-profit organizations and individuals are not eligible for funding
- Organizations may not use a conduit organization to apply for funding
- Eligible organizations must be in business for a minimum of two years before applying for a grant
- Grants are made to organizations who are located or provide services in the North Central Philadelphia area within the boundaries of North to Lehigh Avenue; South to Spring Garden; East to Broad Street; and West to 33rd Street
- Churches and religious organizations are not eligible to receive funding. However, church community development corporations who are tax-exempt may be eligible for activities that are non-sectarian and benefit the North Central Philadelphia community within the boundaries set forth
- Organizations must be current with all federal and local taxes including employees withholding tax payments
- A current audited financial statement must be provided to the foundation
- All organizations must carry the required insurance coverage as needed
- You may only apply for funding once in a twelve-month calendar period
